After seeing all the facebook flair and talking to Hammy, I'm reading Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. You know, the book that is supposed to be the next best thing to a new Harry Potter book?
I'm only on page 91, but I like it. At first I found it obnoxiously mediocre. Now it's getting pretty good. I find it interesting that it's written in the first person, which is fairly odd for any fiction and really odd for fantasy/sci-fi. I tend to be fond of books written in first person. I don't know if this is because the first fantasy books I fell in love with were written that way, or if it's because I find it so much easier to write fiction from the first person point of view. /book geek
Sooo yeah. Looks like the reservations job at the RR is going to be more permanent than I thought. Janet had the day off, so Char had me on the phone for the first time today. Until now I've just been doing data entry and mailing tickets - office monkey stuff. It was scary as all shit. The schedule is fucking ridiculous to try and remember, so I had a dozen cheat sheets. Everyone said I did a good job, but I feel like I was really really slow. I realize I need to learn how to multitask professionally (anyone who's talked to me while I'm on the computer knows I don't do so good with the typing and talking at the same time!) but I still feel like a failure - no matter what people say.
Not much else has been going on. We're probably not going to be able to go on vacation now. I bought a book to get my stupid goddamned novel organized. We're still getting along really well with Nikki, and we have some "pet" squirrels that love living in our back yard. We feed them peanuts - or at least we were until a hawk showed up in the neighborhood. We didn't want to accidentally lure the squirrels out to be a hawk snack. :P
OH MY GOD, THAT DOUCHE SUEDE NEEDS TO STOP TALKING IN THE 3rd PERSON!!!!!!!! Tags: job, railroad, twilight Where I am: the couch Mood-o-meter: thirsty The Sounds Surrounding Me: Project Runway! :D

I was on a bunch of steriods for the asthma/pneumonia which made me look and feel like Jabba the Hutt. (It wouldn't be that bad, but the tail is concerning! ;) ) Now I'm back to just my rescue inhaler and my daily inhaler. Still steriods, but it's a lot fewer than before (and WAY fewer than most MLB players). But now I have a mystery rash all across my face. It's kind of like a cross between a bad breakout and fuck knows what. It doesn't really itch, but it does hurt. I doubt it's meds considering I'm on fewer than I was before, and it can't be a photosensitivity thing because I haven't been out in the sun. I'm still on antibiotics for the pneumonia, but I've never had a problem with Z-packs before - including the one I was put on a week and a half ago when I went to the ER. It also can't be my face wash. I've been using the same stuff for well over a year and it's hypoallergenic. I had craploads of blood work done less than two months ago and everything was normal except for my tiny blood cells. We've adjusted to having Nikki as a roomie. We're all getting along well and the cats simply adore having aunt Nikki living here. Her mad organization skillz have inspired me to try and get this place organized. I bought some more storage containers at Target a week or so ago, but I've yet to feel well enough to actually get anything done. I'm really hoping tomorrow I can get a good start. My cousin's "wake" was exactly what I want when I bite the big one - fried chicken, beer, and a lot of laughter. There was a nice display of a bunch of photos of Donnie and a note saying where his ashes are going to be spread. We got to see several of our cousins who we hadn't seen in years. I just wish those folks would come around more often than just when a family member dies. Tags: family, health, nikki, wtf?
